A beautiful Australian Timber that comes in many colours, orange to deep rich chocolates to near black. A dense wood ideally suited to instruments. Two different trees were used in this instrument. An Orange form, used in the back and sides and a Chocolate/dark form used for the remainder
Soundboard ......... King Billy Pine (Athrotaxis selaginoides)
King Billy, Tasmanian endemic softwood, found in cold/wet sub-alpine forests. The tree is slow growing and long lived. Some of the trees were seedlings when Jesus was a boy. The wood is pink/brown in colour, soft, fine grained and light weight. Excellent soundboard material. Critically endangered, only salvaged wood used.
This instrument has Falcate Soundboard Bracing made from laminated King Billy Pine
Neck .........................Queensland Maple (Flindersia brayleyana)
Perhaps Australian’s Best Tonewood. Highly sought after by Australian Luthiers.
The Neck is fitted with an adjustable double action Steel Trussrod.
Nut and Saddle ..........................Northern Territory Buffalo HornHandmade and custom fitted to this instrument
Rosette and Body Bevel................Ringed Budgeroo, Camphor Laurel and Granadillo
Budgeroo came from Dingo, Camphor Laurel from Northern NSW and Granodillo from South America
Inlays ...........Bass Clefts from Gold Pearl
